WASHINGTON (AP) — Hunter Biden again asked a judge to dismiss the federal gun case against him on Tuesday, arguing it is politically motivated and key evidence was tested after charges were filed. Cocaine residue found on the pouch the president’s son used to hold his gun was only identified last year, after a scuttled plea deal and subsequent indictment, Hunter Biden’s defense attorney said in court documents. Prosecutors, meanwhile, have said there’s no evidence the case is politically motivated, while “the strength of the evidence against him is overwhelming." The charges were "brought in spite of, not because of, any outside noise made by politicians,” they said in court documents this month. Hunter was indicted in Delaware after the plea deal broke down following a hearing where a judge who was supposed to approve it instead raised a series of questions.

While House Republicans said the money transfers link President Biden, who wasn’t in office at the time, to his son’s business activity in China, Democrats said they merely showed Hunter Biden reimbursing his father for some payments his father was making on a 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor that Hunter Biden was using.

House Republicans subpoenaed Hunter Biden earlier this month. Photo: jonathan ernst/ReutersWASHINGTON— Hunter Biden is willing to testify publicly before Congress, his lawyer said in a letter Tuesday, responding to a subpoena demanding that he appear as part of the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into his father, President Biden. The three-page letter from the younger Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, marked the latest escalation in the monthslong standoff between the president’s son and GOP lawmakers. The more aggressive approach seeks to ward off the prospect of a closed-door hearing after which Republican committee members could cherry-pick parts of Hunter Biden’s testimony, but it also augurs a more public phase of his travails.

The Democratic president's son slammed the inquiry as a “fishing expedition” and refused to give closed-door testimony but said he would "answer any pertinent and relevant question” in front of the House Oversight Committee next month, setting up a potential high-stakes face-off. Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, subpoenaed Hunter Biden in early November in the inquiry's most aggressive step yet and one that tests the reach of congressional oversight powers. WASHINGTON (AP) — Hunter Biden sued Rudy Giuliani and another attorney Tuesday, saying the two wrongly accessed and shared his personal data after obtaining it from the owner of a Delaware computer repair shop. The suit filed in California also claims Biden’s data was “manipulated, altered and damaged” before it was sent to Giuliani and Costello, and has been further altered since then. House Republicans, meanwhile, have continued to investigate every aspect of Hunter Biden's business dealings and sought to tie them to his father, the president, as part of an impeachment inquiry. Hunter Biden, meanwhile, after remaining silent as the images are splayed across the country, has changed his tactic, and his allies have signaled there's more to come. Giuliani provided the information to a reporter at the New York Post, which first wrote about the laptop, Biden's attorney said in a letter pushing for a federal investigation.

Hunter Biden's criminal plea deal still needs approval from a judge — which isn't guaranteed. The plea deal, however, still must be approved by a judge. Most plea deals skate through court without any problems, but judges do occasionally reject plea deals in high-profile cases. With a plea deal, prosecutors bind themselves to recommend a particular sentence. It's unusual for a judge to reject a plea deal if the sentencing recommendations are too harsh.
